1. Where do I start?
First, check that you have the correct software installed on your machine. To view the PDF files, you will need Version 5 or newer of Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can get the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader from the Adobe website. Macintosh and Windows versions are available for free download. Once you have the appropriate software installed, it is simply a matter of accessing the PDF files from the Contents page.
2. How can I get a password to access to the password-protected files?
If you were an attendee of JALT2006, you will find a login & password on the cover of the Quick Guide that came with the conference handbook. If you are a JALT member, you can find a password on page 2 of every issue of The Language Teacher. For more information on becoming a JALT member, please visit our JALT website.
3. How do I navigate around the files?
We have tried to make navigation as simple and consistent as possible. Here are a few guidelines:
- Use the Contents page to access the articles. You can also read abstracts and other information by clicking the "Abstract" tab after each paper title.
- Every article has a number of links on the front page. Clicking the Menu link will take you to the main menu from which you can access all information on the Proceedings. The Contents link takes you to a listing of all articles, while the Writers link takes you to brief bios for all writers. The Help & FAQ link brings you back to this page.
4. Can I search for specific words or phrases?
A search facility is currently under development.
5. Where can I get the latest software to read these files?
Go to the Adobe website and download Adobe Acrobat Reader. Macintosh and Windows versions are available for free download.
6. Does JALT provide technical assistance to users having problems using any of the software required by this disk?
Sorry, but no. If you are having technical problems, please consult the manual that came with your software, the "Help" utility within the software, or the software maker.
