Games are playing an increasingly important role in
language teaching with the recent emphasis on communicative
competence. This paper discusses definitions of games and
their use in language classes, then describes several useful
games in the following categories: traditional Japanese
games, Japanese TV games, bingo games, description games,
word salad games, value games, and simulation games.
